Ruptured Carotid Artery Aneurysm

Carotid aneurysms are very rare accounting for less than 3.5% of all aneurysms and repair of this entity comprises only 0.7% of all carotid procedures at major referral centers points. Stroke is the most frequent complication and the possibility of rupture is only happens rarely and considered. Rupture of a non-traumatic, uninfected carotid aneurysm is an exceedingly rare procedure with only a full of cases written in the world literature most of which represented as an acute, life-threatening emergency. This report documents the highly unusual circumstance of sub-acute presentation of a ruptured carotid aneurysm.
